The Resident Dignity & Life Skills Services initiative connects the unique skills, passions, hobbies, and professional experience of volunteers with the practical needs of Haywood Pathways residents. These services are designed to help residents feel more confident, prepared, supported, and cared for in daily life.
Through this initiative, volunteers may offer resident-facing services such as clothing repairs and alterations, computer literacy support, gentle qigong, walking groups, move-out starter kits, job readiness support, budgeting help, creative classes, wellness activities, and other practical life skills. Some services are already active, while others are being developed through partnerships with volunteers, churches, local organizations, and community members.
The heart of this initiative is dignity. Volunteers are not simply completing tasks; they are using who they are and what they know to support residents in meaningful, personal, and practical ways. By sharing their skills with kindness and consistency, volunteers help residents take forward steps toward stability, independence, wellness, and belonging.
